Overview
The thermostat housing is an important part of the automobile cooling system. Its main function is to install and fix the thermostat, while adjusting the flow direction of the coolant to ensure that the engine is properly cooled under different working conditions. The thermostat housing is usually tightly connected to the engine to ensure optimal function and performance.
Structure
The thermostat housing is generally made of metal materials, such as aluminum, cast iron, etc., with good high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. Its structure mainly includes shell, water inlet pipe, water outlet pipe and installation interface and other parts. The inside of the housing is designed with a groove matching the thermostat for fixing and installing the thermostat. The water inlet pipe and the water outlet pipe are respectively connected with the cooling water inlet and outlet of the engine for the circulation of the coolant.
Function
1. Installation and fixation: One of the main functions of the thermostat housing is to install and fix the thermostat to ensure a stable position of the thermostat in the cooling system and avoid damage or failure of the thermostat due to vibration or other factors.
2. Adjust temperature: According to the working state of the engine and the change of water temperature, the thermostat is opened or closed under the control of the housing to adjust the flow direction of the coolant. When the engine is cold-started, the coolant flows to the radiator through the design of the thermostat housing to cool down; when the engine reaches the normal operating temperature, the coolant no longer flows to the radiator through the adjustment of the thermostat, thereby maintaining the normal operation of the engine temperature.
3. Balance pressure: The thermostat housing also has the function of balancing the pressure of the cooling system. When the pressure in the cooling system is too high, the excess coolant can be discharged through the overflow port on the thermostat housing to ensure the pressure balance of the system.
4. Prevent overheating: Prevent the engine from overheating by adjusting the flow of coolant. When the engine temperature is too high, the thermostat opens to allow the coolant to flow to the radiator to cool down; when the temperature drops, the thermostat closes to maintain the normal operating temperature of the engine.
Type
According to different car models and engine types, thermostat housings are divided into various types. Common types include ordinary type, temperature control type and intelligent type. The ordinary thermostat housing has a simple structure and basic functions; the temperature-controlled and intelligent thermostat housing has a more advanced temperature control function, which can be automatically adjusted according to the actual working conditions of the engine.
